Good Provisioning is Good Business

Hi, I’m Brian Loomis, ServInt’s New Director of Provisioning and all-around nice guy — and my team and I are the foundation of the company.
No, seriously.
See, as Director of Provisioning, I lead a team of brilliant men and women who are responsible for managing, maintaining, and yes, provisioning, all of ServInt’s servers, data centers, and the facilities that house them. Whether it involves choosing the location of a new data center or retrofitting our infrastructure to reduce our carbon footprint, it’s my department that makes it happen.
I started at ServInt as a member of the Managed Services Team in 1998, was promoted to management a few years later, and eventually moved into our Engineering Department before being tapped to head Provisioning. As a result, I’ve been intimately involved in nearly every technical facet of this company. That experience has given me — and by extension my team — tack-sharp focus on our role within the company.
So, now that you have a general, sky-high view of what it is me and my team do day-to-day, what does “provisioning” actually entail? Read on to find out!
ServInt’s Biggest VPS and SuperVPS Promo Ever…and Why We Did It.

Building relationships is what we do best.
ServInt is at a very interesting point in its 15 year history. We have a lot of customers outside of the United States, and despite the ongoing global economic crisis we’ve managed to grow quite well. Whether its our latest series of data centers springing up on the West Coast, the launch of our new Solo Series dedicated server line, or our continued philanthropic projects revolving around the ongoing crisis in Haiti, we are growing larger, more competitive, and more socially aware by the day.
In celebration of our 15th anniversary, and in the spirit of being the most competitive Enterprise-class player in webhosting, I’m announcing the return of our most aggressive VPS promotion ever for a limited time.
50% off of your first THREE months on any VPS or SuperVPS with promo code ‘50×3’.
We are a premium hosting company with premium products and services. In an industry that includes competitors from every angle engaging in a race to the bottom in pricing, we’ve chosen a different path. While others focus on making their products cheaper, we focus on making them better. Because we invest in our infrastructure and development to ensure we have the best servers in the world, we don’t need to lure people in with second rate products at subsidized, unsustainable prices.
ServInt has never been your run-of-the-mill bargain-basement hosting option, there are plenty of companies that fill that niche already. However, we also know that for those businesses entering the world of VPS and Dedicated servers for the first time there is often some initial sticker shock. Going from $7 to $50 a month is not trivial for a growing business tasting its first real wave of success, but finding a partner you can trust, that you can hold accountable, and that truly wants you to succeed is a priceless commodity these days.
In the early days of ServInt, doing business with an influential partner at a special price was like winning the lottery. I want to bring that same experience to everyone who hasn’t felt 100% comfortable making the switch to ServInt.
Once you experience ServInt, you’ll stay with ServInt. We’ll be there on day one to help you get your business running, we’ll be there when you’re ready to go Solo with a Dedicated Server, and we’ll be there for you every day in between.
Being a host for over 15 years means we build our business on long-term relationships. It also allows us to build personal relationships with our clients, making you more like family to us than someone who buys a service.
Most of all, we’re looking forward to doing business with all of you.
That’s Not All Folks!
ServInt LA was a huge undertaking, the time, energy, and resources required to replicate the very complex and efficient series of East Coast data centers in the West can’t be discounted. ServInt LA is a new milestone in the history of one of the best and most experienced webhosting companies in the world. I can’t express just how proud I am of everyone here and all the hard work they’ve done.
However, that’s not all that happened on November 10th. Our West Coast expansion in Los Angeles also enabled us to begin work on what we hope will be the foundation of an entirely new series of products and services that ServInt can embark on in the future.
So…What else is new?
I’m referring to two things specifically. The first is a new cross-country pipe that augments a network directly connecting all of our data centers with one another, both those in LA and our existing data centers in Virginia and the District of Columbia (ServInt DC). The second is a brand new control panel from our friends at Parallels that we are helping them launch, and it looks very compelling.
What does that mean for ServInt customers and potential clients? It means that soon, from an infrastructural standpoint, we’ll be prepared to launch a myriad of services designed to help you run your business more efficiently. Some of the projects we’re investigating are cross-country VPS back-ups, a form of near-realtime cross-country mirroring between servers, and a new take on the traditional cloud storage solution.
Our goal, in no uncertain terms, is to further prove that ServInt is the only host you’ll ever need.
Opening the door to the Newbies Among Us
On Tuesday, Parallels also released a brand new control panel, Parallels Small Business Panel, out into the wild. We have a long history of partnership with Parallels and are excited to be one of the very first providers to offer Small Business Panel.
The idea behind the product is simple, existing control panels are not novice-friendly. There’s a tremendous learning curve, but Small Business Panel is designed to have all of the power and flexibility of a traditional control panel such as cPanel or Parallels Plesk and remove as much unnecessary complexity as possible.
By using best use case scenarios and by hiding rarely used advanced settings, Small Business Panel is designed to make running a site considerably easier for those who aren’t used to the intricacies of a traditional control panel. It also incorporates a sophisticated user profile system that allows the webmaster to delegate certain tasks to certain users and keep sensitive access and information accessible to authorized users only.
I had the chance to check out a beta of Small Business Panel earlier this year and I came away impressed. While it’s still early in it’s lifespan, I’m happy we’ve included it as an entry level option to our other terrific control panel selections, namely cPanel and Plesk.
With that being said, we’d love to hear what you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, in our customer forums, on Twitter, or on Facebook!
Announcing ServInt LA

ServInt LA Has Arrived!
When I started ServInt in 1995, I saw a niche that had yet to be filled.
Organizations, companies, and entrepreneurs like me were using in-house servers to host their own webpages. For big companies, this was sometimes ok if only a tad inefficient. However, for small businesses whose priorities did not necessarily include learning the intricacies of FreeBSD and Linux, it was a completely unnecessary burden.
That’s why I started ServInt. We could focus on keeping a website up, while our customers could focus on keeping their bottom-line up. There have been plenty of ups and downs in our company’s history, but at the end of the day we’ve come away a stronger company with a better product. Our flexibility, innovation, and ability to solve really hard technological problems has kept our customers, and ourselves, in business.
There are times in every company’s history when it has to take a big, bold step in its quest to grow. ServInt was blazing trails in 1995 and we haven’t stopped innovating since. In that same spirit, I’d like to announce the latest evolution of ServInt.
Allow me to introduce, ServInt LA.
