The Magic Number is $199: Comparing the SuperVPS and Solo Express

A little more for the piggy bank...

Earlier today, we announced a permanent price drop across our entire Solo Series dedicated server line.

The price drop, while a terrific deal, can also be a tad confusing, since we now seem to be selling two different products for exactly the same amount of money.  As consumers, we’re conditioned to think that if two products have different feature sets, the more expensive one must be “better.”  Understandably, customers in search of the “fastest” or “most reliable” platforms in our Solo Series range might be confused.

The good news is this:  both products are great!  They’re both fast, reliable, easy to manage, and much more.  But they *are* different, and it’s important that you make an informed choice between them, to maximize the value of your $199/mo. investment.

Let’s start by looking at the engines that drive these two offerings.  Many people first notice that the SuperVPS line uses SAS drives in RAID 10, while the servers in the Solo Express line use single SATA drives (without RAID). Although this is true, that doesn’t mean the SuperVPS line necesarily provides better performance — particularly because of the way our SuperVPS and Solo Series servers are engineered. Again:  it’s critical to match your server platform to your business.  Let’s take a moment to compare and contrast these packages to get a better understanding of how to do that.

Re-Introducing ServInt’s New Director of Sales, Devon Rutherford

ServInt's Devon Rutherford

This morning, ServInt announced that I will be assuming the role of Director of Sales. I’m incredibly excited for the challenge and look forward to expanding our already stellar Michigan-based Sales Team over the weeks to come.

As some of you may remember, a few months ago, I introduced ServInt’s new Solo Series Dedicated server line. I’m incredibly proud of the hard work that our Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Managed Services Teams have put in to make the success of our Solo Series possible and am looking forward to growing our sales team even more.

On the topic of our Solo Series, it has been made abundantly clear that there is a demand for truly flexible Cloud and VPS augmented Dedicated solutions, and for distinguished users, the Solo Series is primed and ready to deliver!

I’ve been at ServInt for more than a 12 years–a relatively staggering amount of time for a sales person in the Internet industry. When I joined ServInt in 1998, Pets.com was still littering the airwaves with sock puppets and our online currency was less about credit cards and Paypal and more about Flooz and Beenz (if you’re under 25, try Google).

Needless to say, the internet has changed substantially since then. In 1998, we offered competitive, managed solutions against an army of unmanaged beige boxes in venture-funded warehouses. We were able to weather the dot com bust and evolve because we always refocused on our core strength; instead of trying to be the biggest host in the biz, we’re focused on being the best. We’re managed hosting made better.

That same drive and experience — combined with our peerless customer service, rock-solid network, and data centers around the country — fuels all of us at ServInt today. As the internet grows more fluid and complex everyday, business evolves with it. If today’s internet moves seamlessly between the server, user, and cloud; users deserve a host with the resources to scale alongside them.

Growth should be a good thing, and ServInt’s Sales team is here to help.

Introducing Our Latest Enterprise Dedicated Server Line, the Solo Series

ServInt's Devon Rutherford

Greetings blog readers!

As head of our Enterprise sales team here at ServInt, I usually spend my days working directly with customers and I’ve never been a contributor on ServInt’s blog before, but today we have an announcement I’m so excited by that I insisted on being the one to share it. Since it is my job to assist customers with finding the package best suited to their needs, I can’t wait to tell everybody about this series of new Enterprise Dedicated Server products we have available as of today.

Our Enterprise sales team helps to outfit customers with demanding, unique, and sometimes esoteric needs. There was a time when these interactions were relatively rare and specialized, but today, even our entry level products see incredibly complex software setups. It’s amazing and exhilarating that today’s internet is far more accessible, far more organic, and far more democratic, than ever before.

One of the true hallmarks I’ve witnessed in my 12 years at ServInt has been our consistent focus on not just providing a single, static family of solutions. Instead, we’ve cultivated an ecosystem where businesses can grow with ServInt. We made sure that when a business moved to dedicated hardware, going “Solo” meant never truly being alone.

More after the jump…
