SOPA, PIPA & CES: First Reactions
I just arrived back in Virginia after three days at International CES in Las Vegas, where I was spreading the word about the dangers of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) on behalf of the Internet industry.
I had the opportunity to speak in front of large audiences about PIPA and SOPA, and I believe that our message resonated. Along with many other key legislative and industry stakeholders, I was able to meet with Senator Ron Wyden and Rep. Darrell Issa — and I got to engage in a lively and spirited debate with a Director from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
I have stories to tell, insights to share, and legislative updates to pass along. I’m in the middle of a few “catch-up” items of business back at the ServInt ranch, but I hope to get everybody a detailed CES report on Monday. Please check back then, and thanks for your support!

Hey this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or
if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you
relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what
youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your weblog when
you could be giving us something informative to read?
This is just terrible….SOPA is the equivalent of curing a headache with a guillotine. It may stop piracy, but it would shut down our economy and unconstitutionally erode our most basic freedoms in the process.
I just hope that everyone realizes how important this is and does their part to save the internet & our economy! …here is another good video that explains the consequences of SOPA pretty well:

Chris I cannot tell you how much those comments mean to me! This is exactly who ServInt tries to be. All of our training and hiring efforts are built around caring about our customers and doing right by them, and stitching that into the fibers of our being. It’s for those same reasons we’ve been fighting so hard against PIPA & SOPA.

I’d just like to express my appreciation to ServInt for walking the walk.
This whole PIPA/SOPA thing reminds me of an incident some time ago, when Amazon mistook an affiliate link on my website as a “phishing” link and tried to get my entire site shut down.
They contacted my DNS provider, Dyn, who promptly shut off our service without prior notice. This is an example of one of the dangers SOPA poses — the removal of due process.
They also contacted ServInt, but this time ServInt actually forwarded the notice to me, whereupon we worked out that it was a false positive.
Amazon took 2 days to return with an apology. Dyn took a whopping 5 days to reinstate my DNS hosting (by then I had already switched to a different provider).
ServInt looks after their customers :)
